"The mountains are calling, and I must go" - John Muir
This quote has been gracing my desktop screen for months.
Each day at work I would stare at my screen, counting down the days till I was back in my happy place. The mountains are vast and majestic - but there's a soothing calm to their tumbling rivers and untamed forest. I wanted to feel the glacier fed waters around my skin, breath in the crisp, fresh air, and to explore the places I've never been before.
After months of planning, a small dream of mine finally became a reality.
It was an early 5am start that Saturday for Aimee to get herself and Kayla ready for our day. We met Lauren - our wonderful guide - at the starting point of our trek and off we went. Even little Arwynne joined us. After our short hike you could hear the sounds of the falls before you could see it.
It was perfect.
So perfect, in fact, we witnessed a proposal happen beneath the waterfalls that day.
As the crowds grew we decided to head to Canmore for lunch, and took a few more photos at the river before calling it a day. After hiking, and hoping in and out of the freezing water, we were a tired bunch.
A huge shout out to Aimee for doing the hair and the makeup, and to her and Kayla for modelling and a special thanks to Lauren for helping me find the perfect spot for our shoot and keeping Arwynne well behaved around the curious little ones that passed by ;)
